In 2018 I participated in the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, which is an annual photo festival spanning the month of May.
The photo exhibit was displayed at the HGB Gallery (@ Spadina Auto), curated by Hans G. Bathija.
Exhibition Description:
This exhibit is a testament to the creative and meticulous handiwork of the automobile mechanic. In this digitized and abstractized world, society is progressively removed from the foundational and the tangible. Increasingly we are forced to relate to one another at a superficial level, keeping our flaws hidden and hiding the dirt beneath our nails. Yet behind the wizard’s curtain, gears continue to turn, pistons continue to pump and fluids continue to flow. With these photographs, Ana Vujčuf captures the stamina, dexterity and toil that enables us to ride our horse powered chariots, an ancient rite that continues to prime the capitalist pump.
