Strachan Illustrated By Metrolinx

In March 2013 I was involved with the Strachan Illustrated project which involved turning the new retaining wall along the realigned Strachan Avenue into a beautiful display of the community’s creativity.

A short description of the work:

“From 19th century logs, to 20th century brick to 21st century steel and glass, the Garrison Creek catchment has seen architecture evolve as materials have adapted to the times. This piece represents an abstraction of the temporal intersection of building materials within the area. It evokes the continuum of landscape and portrays the ever changing face of industry. From military encampments to abattoirs to manufacturing to creative services, Garrison Creek has, and continues, to support diverse human social interaction. The viewer is invited to explore the tides of change through the colours and textures interwoven in a mosaic of time and space. This is achieved by using photographs of local wood, brick, steel and glass buildings, which are then imposed upon each other and then distorted using filters.”
